Ryder Truck Rentals
With only a mere thirty five dollars in his pocket for a down payment, James A. Ryder put a down payment a
nineteen thirty three Model A Ford truck. All he hauled at that time was concrete. Then in nineteen thirty eight,
after seeing Mr. Ryder’s trucks, agreed to lease five trucks, thus the story began of Ryder Rental trucks. From
such humble beginnings, Ryder truck rentals became one of the worlds leading suppliers of rental trucks.
In nineteen thirty eight, the Champagne Velvet Beer company became Mr. Ryder’s first leaseing account. Then he
got the contract for the Miami Herald newspaper and still continues to carry that lease today. In nineteen fifty
five Ryder Truck rentals became publicly traded. In the mid eighties, new rules started popping up and private
single source leasing was allowed. Even private shippers were allowed to solicit outside of the freight business.
Ryder set up an entirely new division to handle the single source leasing.
Ryder truck rentals grew in leaps and bounds, because U-Haul had external problems, as they family battled with
each other for control of that company. U-Haul only had rental trucks that were over ten years old on some, but
their equipment just was not up to date. Ryder rental trucks had trucks that were not over two years old and
bragged about all the features on the Ryder rental trucks, ones that U-Haul did not have.
Ryder rental trucks had air conditioning, AM/FM radios; power steering, radial tires and fuel efficient engines.
Once the nineteen nineties were in full swing, Ryder truck rentals was at that time, it still had contract
carriage, new aviation parts distribution units, and the jet turbine aircraft overhaul and maintenance sections
were doing very well. The CEO of Ryder truck rentals felt there were fundamental changes were needed to keep the
company profitable and still be one of the top earning rental companies.
Once these new ideas for Ryder truck rentals came to be, the old and new components to the company were
discarded. With these gone, the CEO of that time felt the company now needed to focus on three main business areas;
corporate truck leasing and rental, public transportation and logistics. No one at that time could determine if
this would hurt the company or improve it. But what it did accomplish was the measurable increase of contractual
business and the growing of the logistical services.
Ryder truck rentals today can be seen all over the United States. That yellow truck is known to be a good rental
truck. So if one is moving from California to Vermont, there are Ryder truck rentals to fill anyone’s moving needs.
They offer different sizes of trucks, most are loaded, with air conditioning and power steering to mention a few of
the items. Most come with the moving dolly, boxes and tape. You go and decide what size truck you need, where you
are going and sign the paperwork, you are off on another adventure. The prices are reasonable at any Ryder truck
rentals stores, throughout the nation.
