Once the nineteen nineties were in full swing, Ryder truck rentals was at that time, it still had contract carriage, new aviation parts distribution units, and the jet turbine aircraft overhaul and maintenance sections were doing very well. The CEO of Ryder truck rentals felt there were fundamental changes were needed to keep the company profitable and still be one of the top earning rental companies.

With these gone, the CEO of that time felt the company now needed to focus on three main business areas; corporate truck leasing and rental, public transportation and logistics. No one at that time could determine if this would hurt the company or improve it.
